TOMORROW, WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 27, 6:00-7:00PM,IS OUR PTSA GENERAL MEETING AND PRINCIPALS’ UPDATE.
All parents, caregivers, teachers, staff (daytime, language, Beacon) are welcome to attend the HYBRID Meeting. Don’t miss this meeting. You have two choices: join us IN PERSON at the APG Library and enjoy pizza while we chat OR hop online on ZOOM from the comfort of your home, office, or wherever you may be at this time. Why should you join the PTSA General Meeting? This is your chance to GET INFORMED about what’s happening at the beginning of the school year and ASK QUESTIONS to our PTSA Board officers and Principals. You don’t need to be a member to join the meeting, but you do have to be a member to VOTE on the Budget during the meeting. There’s no child care or dinner provided for students/siblings at the in-person meeting; the PTSA meeting is for adults only. Thanks for understanding.
REMINDER ABOUT STUDENT SAFETY AT AP GIANNINI
–> Student Safety is a priority at APG! Most of our students walk, bike, skateboard, scooter, or take the school/ MUNI buses to and from APG.
–> In the first seven days of school, there have already been near-misses of hitting students in crosswalks, close calls of accidents with electric bikes/scooters/cars/buses, many parents/caregivers parked illegally in the staff-only parking lots, blocked neighbors’ driveways, and other unsafe behavior during morning drop-offs and afternoon pick-ups.
–> Please make sure YOU pay attention to all the students crossing the streets by our school. If your student is being driven to school, cars/motorcycles/all vehicles are NOT ALLOWED to pull into any of the white zones along the school parking lots on Ortega Street, 37th to 41st avenues, between 9:00am – 4:15pm.
–> The MUNI and district School Buses also use a large part of 37th Avenue near Ortega as a drop off/pick up zone – please do not block them or cause traffic backups near the Ortega St & 37th Avenue intersection.
–> Please do not park or pull over inside our two school parking lots; these parking lots are only for our teachers and staff use all day, from 8:30am – 5:30pm. –> Do not block neighbors’ driveways across Ortega street by school or on any other streets when dropping off or waiting for your students.
–> Take note that Sunset Elementary School also has drop off at 9:30am every morning and dismissal times close to ours, so there are always younger students walking and crossing the streets on Ortega and 41st to 43rd Avenues. There are four crossing guards from Sunset Blvd down to 41st Avenue to help out with crosswalks – please listen to them when they hold up their Stop Signs.
–> Let’s work together to keep all our students safe! Thank you for making a better effort to read the 37th Avenue and Ortega Street signs, stay away from bus zones, avoid double parking, stop for students, and pull over for drop-off or pick-up in the correct loading zones or on side streets.
